A game from the creators of the "hit" "Stone Thrower"!

UPD:
I’ve added version 0.1.1 (21:08 07.08.2025), 0.1.2 (18:16 12.08.2025), which was made AFTER the game jam deadline. The original file submitted for the jam is called "Zeroed One v0.1.0 (For MechJam VI)".
This hotfix allows the game to be completed (I made a mistake in checking whether the wave was the last one, so the game couldn't end properly).

0.1.2 Changes:

  • Fixed camera rotation – it’s no longer static and now follows the point where the projectile will fly, ignoring distance for smoother camera movement.
  • Reduced the duration of the inverted controls effect from 30 seconds to 5.
  • Fixed the revolver firing effect, which caused the muzzle flash to be tilted by -90 degrees on the X axis.
  • Added a sensitivity slider.
  • The Bloom toggle now has a more obvious ON position.
  • Reduced negative slot machine effects related to player fire rate and movement speed.
  • Increased the positive effect of movement speed for the player.
  • Fixed a bug where the Shooting Enemy could shoot through walls when pressed against them.
  • Added a dynamic explosion radius sprite.
  • Fixed the damage calculation formula for the player’s rocket launcher.
  • Fixed floating enemy spawn points.

Zeroed One
- is a video game about a mech pilot who lost big in a shady casino. You take control of a combat mech and must pay off your debt by fighting in a gladiator arena against the casino’s crew and other debtors (the latter are not yet in this game jam version).

Using a slot machine, you can alter reality—changing your or your enemies’ weapon stats, mech parameters, strengthening or weakening enemies, or modifying the battlefield itself. Thanks to your luck (or lack thereof), you might cause enemy weapons to jam or trigger rising lava in the arena. Your goal is to finish the game once and for all.

Controls:

  • WASD – Movement

  • Mouse – Look around

  • LMB – Fire

  • R – Reload

  • Z – Use the slot machine (requires coins)

  • SHIFT – Rechargeable dash (indicator in the top-left corner)

  • 1, 2, 3 – Switch weapons (Only weapon 1 is available by default – a revolver with APFSDS rounds)

You must survive 5 waves.
Collect coins and spin the slot machine to shift the tide of battle.
Second weapon unlocks after 10 coins, third after 30.

This is a demo, and many slot machine effects are not yet fully implemented, so things might not look very flashy yet—they mostly affect stats and include a few special effects.

Only a small part of the enemy types and weapons have been added so far. We are committed to continuing work on this project and finishing it.

We're happy to have taken part in this jam—it finally got us moving and helped us debut with this demo we’ve worked on through many sleepless nights. We hope you’ll look forward to our updates… and now we can finally get some rest.
